Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 15, 2026. Applies to Status Saver for Android, built by Resonex.

Summary

Status Saver is a local-only utility built by Resonex. It reads status images and videos from folders you explicitly grant it access to, keeps working copies on your own device so you don't lose them to WhatsApp's 24-hour deletion, and never sends anything to us or to any third party, not media, not filenames, not usage data. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no ad networks in this app.

What we access

With your explicit permission, granted through Android's standard folder picker (the Storage Access Framework), Status Saver reads:

  • WhatsApp's status folder. The same folder WhatsApp itself writes status media to on your device.
  • WhatsApp Business's status folder. Same mechanism, kept separate from your personal WhatsApp grant.

You choose each folder yourself in the system file picker. Status Saver cannot access any other part of your storage, and cannot access either folder until you've granted it.

What we store, and where

Everything below is stored only in the app's private storage on your device, or in your device's public Pictures and Movies folders when you explicitly tap Save. None of it is transmitted anywhere.

  • Kept statuses. If you enable retention, a private copy of a status is made before WhatsApp deletes its own copy, so it stays visible and saveable for the number of days you choose, between 1 and 30. This copy lives in the app's private app storage folder and is automatically deleted once your chosen window passes, or immediately if you turn retention off and clear it manually.
  • Saved statuses. Anything you explicitly tap "Save" on is copied to your device's public Pictures/StatusSaver or Movies/StatusSaver folder, the same as any other photo or video app would save to your gallery.
  • Favorites. A small local list of which filenames you've starred.
  • App preferences. Theme, grid size, retention window, and notification settings. Standard Android app preferences, private to this app.

What we don't do

  • We don't require or use a user account.
  • We don't run analytics, crash reporting SDKs, or advertising SDKs.
  • We don't upload media, filenames, or any usage data to any server. Status Saver has no backend.
  • We don't access contacts, messages, call logs, location, or any WhatsApp data beyond the status media folders you grant.
  • We don't share, sell, or otherwise disclose your data, because we never receive it in the first place.

Permissions, plainly explained

  • Storage access, folder specific, via picker. To read the status folders you choose.
  • Notifications. To tell you when a new status is detected, optionally with a thumbnail preview, and to show the ongoing "watching" notice while real-time watch mode is active.
  • Run in the background, foreground service. Only if you turn on real-time watch mode, so the app can check for new statuses every 15 seconds without needing to stay open. You can turn this off at any time in Settings.
  • Start on device boot. Only used to resume a background check schedule you already turned on, so it survives a phone restart.

Notifications and background checks

Status Saver can optionally check for new statuses periodically, roughly every 30 minutes, or continuously, roughly every 15 seconds in real-time watch mode, while running. These checks only read the folders you've already granted access to. They don't access anything new, and nothing is sent off your device during a check. Both features are opt-in and can be turned off in Settings at any time.

Children's privacy

Status Saver is not directed at children and is not designed to collect any personal information from anyone, regardless of age, since it does not collect personal information from anyone at all.

Your choices

  • Revoke folder access at any time through your device's Settings, under Apps, Status Saver, Permissions, or by clearing the app's storage.
  • Turn off retention, notifications, or watch mode individually in the app's Settings screen.
  • Clear all locally kept statuses at any time through Settings, "Clear duplicate kept statuses."
  • Uninstalling the app removes all app-private data immediately.

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change with it. Material changes will also be reflected in the app's store listing description at the next update.
